The Easiest, Cheapest Ways to Save Your Skin This Winter
A guide to the best moisturizers in town.
By Olivia Tytla
Syracuse students endure the brunt of winter. From the freezing air on the promenade and dry heat in your dorm, to a chancellor who likes the snow a little too much, our skin is left irritated, brittle, and painfully dull. Nourishing your skin with ultra-rich moisturizers is necessary. But with tight budgets and little time to spare, it can be hard to find quality products. We at Zipped have compiled a list of the best moisturizers to grab between classes to help transform your skin this winter season.
A Stop at the Bookstore
For those on a time crunch, stop by Schine Bookstore to look through their wide range of Clinique products. Our personal favorite is their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel that leaves skin feeling soft and subtle. This fast absorbing gel helps hydrate and control oily skin without a leaving a greasy residue. A little goes a long way, so with a price tag of $28, this product is guaranteed to last you an entire semester.
For something more natural, try Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream derived from almond oil and Vitamin E. Both your skin and wallet will love you. This product helps hydrates your skin back to its vibrant self and isn’t too pricey!
A Quick CVS Run
When on Marshall, make sure to visit CVS which offers products for less than $20.00, like the Aquaphor Advanced Therapy. Formulated with 41% Petrolatum, Aquaphor replenishes your skin while preventing further damage from harsh winter conditions. Fragrance free, this moisturizer absorbs slowly, so for the best results, apply before bed.
Made for all skin types, the thick and creamy formula of Nivea is perfect for providing relief to dry and irritated skin. Dye and paraben free, this body creme is a great bang for your buck.
Dermatologist recommend Aveeno Skin Relief for those with sensitive skin which guarantees 24-hour moisture. This fast-absorbing lotion is made with natural shea butter and oat oil and comes in an array of sizes, so it's perfect for on the go use between classes.
